Made from good-for-you ingredients and with a weightless, modern-matte finish that stays put all day, our newest product—Power Play Foundation—is a true game changer. So in celebration of its release (FYI—it’s already a bestseller), we’re shining the spotlight on beauty and lifestyle experts who also never fail to eclipse expectations. From superpower CEOs to makeup mavens and more, these #Powerplayers inspire us with both their how-I-got-here stories and their tips for living a beautiful life.

This week we are taking the Power Play launch festivities up a notch with our Power Play Power Panel, an in-person conversation among a few of our favorite #Powerplayers. Our panelists represent many facets of the industry and the values we support.

Today’s featured panelist: Victor Ramos, a fashionable and fearless guy who proudly wears makeup—and boasts the Insta followers to prove he’s onto something.

What was your goal when you first joined Instagram and how has it evolved as your influence has grown?

Victor: I joined Instagram in 2014 with no intention of becoming a social media influencer. I was just a boy about to enter college trying to stay in touch with high school friends through social media. My influence evolved as soon as I started filling in my brows and tagging the makeup brands that I used.

You’ve now reached almost 30K Instagram followers. What, in your opinion, draws fans and followers your way?

Victor: I believe my individuality draws my supporters my way. I believe I have a refreshing East Coast edge and a more ‘androgynous’ approach to what beauty and makeup are.

You’re a guy who wears makeup—and proudly so! How have you used your voice to empower others to push the envelope or perhaps try something that might feel scary?

Victor: As a gay male in makeup who also happens to be of color, I use my platform to inspire others to do whatever they want to express their creativity and sense of self. You shouldn’t let anything define you or allow anyone to tell you that you are anything other than who you believe you are.

What projects do you have going on that you are really excited about?

Victor: I am super proud to have recently worked on my first lipstick collaboration.

How has the makeup industry evolved to be more guy-friendly? Or better yet, what do we still need to work on?

Victor: I think the one thing the beauty industry has trouble with is making makeup gender neutral. I always hear CEOs of cosmetic companies say things like, “We want to make all types of woman feel beautiful,” and I can’t help but feel excluded at times. But it is up to me to bring change to something that I personally feel attached to. I don’t like to complain because I very much enjoy being a part of this movement towards creating a more gender-neutral atmosphere in beauty.

What is your “foundation”? (Who or what keeps you grounded?)

Victor: My family and Oprah.

Who (or what) is your beauty inspiration and why?

Victor: So cliché, but Beyoncé! Not only is she gorgeous, but she also never stops perfecting her craft and uses her platform to create a conversation. She is just absolutely perfect!

What’s on your bedside table right now?

Victor: I’m a Diptyque candle, crystals, and coffee table books kind of guy.

What is your favorite Cover FX product and what draws you to the brand?

Victor: My absolute favorite Cover FX product is the Illuminating Setting Spray I use it almost every day as an overall body highlighter. It gives you the most amazing shimmer in any kind of light. As for the brand, I appreciate its continued perseverance for beauty equality.
